no sound on Fedora 16.

I have been using fedora 15.I could play music well.I have recently installed fedora 16 using a DVD ISO with all packages for low internet connections.but i could not play music with sound.That means my sound is not working well.my audio card is VT1708/a.I have checked by trying ubuntu 11.10.In that i could hear sound.I tried to install audio codec driver from realtek .but still my problem is not solved. please help me to find solution.please mail its solution on my email id ejazmizan@gmail.com

Hi. Run the command alsamixer in the terminal and see if you can enable sound from there. I had a similar problem in Ubuntu and I solved that way. regards

su -c 'yum -y install alsa-oss'

for fedora 16 - Audio works before then suddenly stop - here is how I solved my issue: 1-Check your video card [root@localhost user]# cat /proc/asound/cards 0 [Intel ]: HDA-Intel - HDA Intel HDA Intel at 0xefebc000 irq 43 [root@localhost user]# /sbin/lsmod | grep -c snd 11

2-Click on speaker icon at your desktop upper right hand corner 3-select sound setting 4-select correct hardware at hardware tab.
