Just upgraded to Fedora 18 and started Empathy, but I can't find where to join an existing chat. There used to be a menu in the contact list window for this, but now it is gone.

Any ideas?

Empathy is now better integrated with Gnome. When you start Empathy then you can find the menu when you click "Empathy" In the black Gnome top bar on the left, right next to "Activities".

In that menu you can the find "Rooms" sub menu.

I would recommend using an IRC client, such as X-Chat or irssi. I find them to be more robust than Empathy.
