re-configuring fedora 17 installation

I added xfce to a generic fedora 17 installation and prefer it to the new gnome so I un-installed a few gnome packages since I thought I don't need them anymore but apparently I do since I couldn't reboot. I have since restored the packages using "yum history undo" but still can't boot though I get further than I did before. I am guessing I need to configure a few things. Is there any way I can re-trigger the auto-configuration that happens at install time? If not, what can I do? FYI, gdm was one of the packages that I uninstalled/reinstalled.

You could re-install previously erased gnome dependices by running the following command:

sudo yum groupinstall "GNOME Desktop Environment"
