How do I change the brightness of my laptop screen, in the login screen?

The default brightness setting for the boot and login screen in Fedora 16 is the lowest setting of my laptop. This is unusable and I have to use a flashlight to see what's happening. In Fedora 15, this happened during the boot screen, but not during the login screen. The default brightness setting during login was higher, and I was able to change it using Fn+F2, Fn+F3 on my keyboard. Everything works as expected after I login.

How can I fix this?

Sounds like a bug. If you're using the default configuration, please file a bug against the gdm package at redhat bugzilla. It may have already been reported, please do search bugzilla before you file the bug.
