hi there! i just recently shifted from Ubuntu GNOME 16.10 to Fedora 25, and this one issue might be enough to make me switch back to Ubuntu GNOME. MP3 & MP4 files just won't open, no matter how many codecs i install!! I have installed every codec available without the the Fusion repo and with!! i even deleted the .cache but still videos and songs don't work! help would be greatly appreciated. thank you specs Acer Aspire E55-11 Fedora 25 all codecs installed Videos / Totem & Lollypop are the two apps that i am using and both are giving problems.

Follow these steps:

sudo dnf install gstreamer1-plugin-mpg123 mpg123-libs gstreamer1-libav

(If you see a message that some of these are already installed, just ignore that).

If you get a message that some packages are not available, rpmfusion-free is not configured correctly. Do this:

sudo dnf install$(rpm -E %fedora).noarch.rpm

Alternatively, use the vlc player which has its own codecs and will play just about everything:

sudo dnf install vlc

Thanks! I had to follow the 2nd step because apparently rpmfusion-free wasn't configured correctly. It worked and I could hear mp3s! :-)

I recommend you to install VLC player from RPMFusion-free:

sudo dnf install vlc

If you have installed all codecs and VLC doesn't read the MPEG format, then add this line to your /etc/ file:

then type

sudo ldconfig
