Closing last window on a workspace disables keyboard, including the Power button.

I just downloaded Fedora with Mate (I didn't enable Compiz) and installed it on a Skylake notebook. Everything works fine, except whenever I close the last window on a workspace, keyboard input will no longer work until I click with the mouse somewhere on that workspace. Clicking on a menu to open and optionally close it again does not help, it has to be on the workspace (or on an icon on the workspace). Interestingly, even the notebook's power button ceases to have any effect! (Except for holding it for 5s for hard off.) Pressing it will no longer bring up the "you want to shutdown?..<60s countdown stuff..>" dialogue, but just do nothing noticable. Is this a known problem? Any way to fix this? If you need more information, let me know. I have no idea how to tackle this problem.

Does this whole site actually work? Like, is anyone reading this? I mean hello, Power Button stops working and no response/fix, wtf?

apparently no one knows what to say, but the site does work. You using wayland or gnome? what kernel are you running, what version of fedora. Single monitor or multi? What video driver, how much ram, what does journalctl show? there are many things that could help track down the problem.

I downloaded the Fedora Mate version that is just on the official website. One monitor, it's just a notebook. 8 GB RAM. I can't check journalctl atm since I installed it for someone else, so it's not actually my notebook.. but when I get the opportunity I will check..

OK, just post here, when you can, and I will try to make some sense of the problem. I run cinnamon as my desktop, and no issues like that with it. I have never used mate, but will try to figure it out.
