I'm a long time Fedora server user and have recently been testing out Fedora 16. I'm using the GNOME desktop and now that I finally got wireless working, I'm curious about the following:

Are there app launcher alternatives? I come from Windows, and it would be nice to see something similar to that or the new Ubuntu look.

Is there a point to the desktop? I can't seem to put files on it or anything.

You can do try to look at the link here in Ask Fedora to get details how you can put files or icons in Desktop.
