Help with Problem Dark Screen on Restart Fedora 25

Hi everyone, please kindly help me with a problem with Fedora Linux 25 of 32 bits. On a PC with the following features:


Equipment Type ACPI Multiprocessor Machine Microsoft Windows XP Professional operating system Service Pack 3 Service Pack 3 Internet Explorer 6.0.2900.5512 DirectX (DirectX 9.0c)


CPU Type Intel Pentium 4 531, 3000 MHz (15 x 200) Motherboard Name Gigabyte GA-8S661FXM-775 (3 PCI, 1 AGP, 2 DDR DIMM, Audio, Video, LAN) SiS 661FX Motherboard Chipset System memory 2016 MB (PC3200 DDR SDRAM) DIMM1: 1 GB PC3200 DDR SDRAM (3.0-3-3-8 @ 200 MHz) (2.5-3-3-7 @ 166 MHz) (2.0-2-2-6 @ 133 MHz) DIMM2: Kingston K 1 GB PC3200 DDR SDRAM (3.0-3-3-8 @ 200 MHz) (2.5-3-3-7 @ 166 MHz) BIOS Type Award Modular (06/13/07) Communication port Communication port (COM1) Communication port ECP printer port (LPT1)

Screen: SiS Mirage Graphics Video Adapter (32 MB) 3D accelerator SiS 330 Mirage IGP ViewSonic VA702b Monitor [17 "LCD]

When I connect and turn on the PC, the graphical interface of login or login appears without any problem. The problem is when I reboot the Linux Operating System Fedora 25 32 Bit does not appear the graphical interface of login or login.

Some stuff to try, Can you use Ctrl-Alt-F2 to get to a login terminal? if so, try the following, after logging in as root user.

$ vi /etc/default/grub
press the insert key to edit the file
look for Grub_cmd_line and put nomodeset after the word quiet on the command line.
press the Esc key, then :wq to save the file
$ grub2-mkconfig -o /boot/grub2/grub.cfg
$ reboot

If all goes well, you get a generic graphic mode, that should at least let you get online, and try to find drivers for the video card.

Thanks for your help or comment. I followed your advice but still the black screen problem persists instead of the graphical interface.

Please, there is some other way to solve the described problem.

ok, i need more information to help further. from the grub menu, press the c key, to get the grub command prompt. then type the following commands, and post the answers here please.


the output of those two will give me something to troubleshoot with.
