On Fedora 24 WS, using the Gnome Tweak Tool works for me.

If you don't have it installed, then:

sudo dnf install gnome-tweak-tool

Once you have it installed, you can run it and select the "Power" section from the menu on the left of the screen. You'll see an item "When Laptop Lid is Closed" with "Don't suspend on lid close" written underneath. To the write of this text there is a switch to enable or disable this setting.
