Correct. You want to make sure that during installation you point /home to your existing /home. Also, make sure that you do not format /home

Correct. You want to make sure that during installation you point /home to your existing /home. Also, make sure that you do not format /home. (As far as I remember, there is check box that you need to deselect).

And as always: Before upgrading or re-installing, make a full backup of /home/.
