Actually, I'm using wayland from within the KDE-Plasma desktop right now. it works, although it crashes occasionally. Here's what to do. From within your regular user screen open a konsole window (I haven't tried other terminals yet. They should work). Then open a second konsole tab. In the first one type " kwin_wayland --xwayland " This will open the wayland server in the first terminal. In the second konsole tab type " DISPLAY=:1 seamonkey " OR other application that you wish to run. I'm here using the Seamonkey web browser right now. You can also open almost any other app...AND open other apps from within that app...for instance ..you can right click on a jpeg and open it with your viewer just as you would in you regular plasma desktop. IT works. I've tried doing this in a virtual terminal as in CTL-ALTF2, after logging out of KDE. I had it working in Fedora 25 using the " startplasmacompositor " command....but it crashes in Fedora26 on my computrer...could be the specific graphics card. For more information......go here....https://community.kde.org/KWin/Wayland.
