The best way that I have found to install the Jetbrains IDE's is to download. Then expand the directory in the download location and rename it to intellij as an example. Now as root move the directory to /opt.

As your user execute the following command /opt/intellij/bin/injellij.sh and the install will do the rest including setting up menus etc.

Hope this helps and it works with all Jetbrains IDE's (pycharm, phpstorm etc)
