Typically there is no big difference between su and sudo, you can find more details here . However, su forces you to share your root password to other users whereas sudo makes it possible to execute system commands without root password. By adding the -c to the su command there will be no big difference between sudo and su -c as I said before, and as a fedora user I prefer su -c

$ cd $HOME/Downloads

To install for the first time use:

$ su -c "rpm -ihv your_file.rpm"

Or you can update an older version using:

$ su -c "rpm -Uhv your_file.rpm"

Hi Dany

I am not sure if you are still looking for an easy solution to use ACEStream under fedora!? Well in my case, I am using fedora 25 x86_64 and to run ACEStream I am using wine and it works perfectly!

2013-07-21 13:26:31 -0600 answered a question How can I make the GNOME shell top bar translucent ("transparent")?

To get gnome-shell panel transparency, try this:

Edit the panel section in /usr/share/gnome-shell/theme/gnome-shell.css to:

#panel {
color: #ffffff;
/*background-color: black;*/
background-color: rgba(0,0,0,0.6);
/*border-image: url("panel-border.svg") 1;*/
}

where rgba(0,0,0,0.6) is the alpha channel.

2013-07-21 13:10:56 -0600 answered a question Mp3 Codecs

If you’ve installed/upgraded to Fedora and you would like to play your media files (music and videos), this is the current way to go:

Add RPM Fusion repository then install codecs:

$ su -
Password:
# yum install gstreamer1-libav gstreamer1-plugins-ugly

For some reason the Totem’s auto-search function is now broken, so you have to do it manually. I suspect the reason is that the package names have changed (compared to Fedora 17 and earlier).

Of course all of this only applies to citizens of those countries where software patents are not valid. Otherwise this action would probably be illegal and you might receive a capital punishment or similar.
