2017-12-25 16:08:07 -0600 answered a question Is it possible to install Fedora from a chroot in a way analogous to Arch Linux?

I never tried this but teoreticly you should be able to use dnf --installroot= to install fedora base system to a different location. you can create a new LVM to use existing partition and mount it to a new folder and use the command above to install fedora into it, and then use systemd-nspawn to access it.

see here for a example using yum instead dnf

2017-12-24 02:56:26 -0600 answered a question How to securely delete files on Fedora 27 (ext4)?

I think you OK, with shred and/or just dd /dev/null on to this files.

Are you worry some one will take the plates out of drive to a forensic lab to try and restore your data, where do you draw the line ?

I guess you will have this problem on SSD's where the controller will write the new data on a new block (wear levelling), and the old data will still be on the memory chips (but not mapped)

Another option you have is to create a tmp file to fill all free space on the drive, and then use dd or shred, so there won't be other places for the drive to relocate the content.

2017-12-19 05:19:41 -0600 commented answer How do I transfer an MBR system to a EUFI system?

If you need to manage a lot of storage, LVM will make it much easier, you can also check ZFS with ZoL which give you more then LVM and redundancy as well.

Why not use LVM?, not alot of complextity, and you get the benefit of snapshots.

2017-12-18 00:28:58 -0600 answered a question How do I transfer an MBR system to a EUFI system?

I'll go with clean install and use LVM for the disk partitioning

You can create a list of installed packages with

rpm -qa --qf '%{name}\n' > rpm.list

then after installing the new machine, copy the rpm.list file to it and run

cat rpm.list | xargs dnf install -y

to install all the missing packages from the old machine.

next you will need to have a copy of /etc and just copy what ever you need from there.

IIRC Andorid won't expose adb over the wireless interface, you need to root your device and use apps like wifi adb to enable the adb daemon to work with wireless interface.

2017-09-16 15:14:02 -0600 answered a question DNF crash created duplicate installs, DNF is a duplicate

you can use rpm -e to erase any package directly bypassing any protection you have from DNF, I recommand listing all the packages you like to remove, download them locally, and then try and play with rpm -e later on you can reinstall the packages with rpm -Uivh *.rpm if needed.
