2016-12-26 12:59:51 -0600 answered a question Fedora - bluetooth-sendTo not working

This thread provided me with the solution.

Issuing those commands solved it for me :

systemctl --user start obex
sudo systemctl --global enable obex

I also needed to make sure file sharing was enabled on my laptop in Settings > Sharing > File Sharing. Doing the same thing on my friend's Mac was also necessary.

I hope this helps !

2016-12-26 12:56:22 -0600 asked a question Fedora - bluetooth-sendTo not working

I was willing to transfer a file to another laptop via bluetooth. Fedora 25 comes with everything you need, including the bluetooth-sendto command which let's you pick a file and send it.

I am able to select a file but as soon as I do it, here is what happens :

Gtk-Message: GtkDialog mapped without a transient parent. This is discouraged.
Gtk-Message: GtkDialog mapped without a transient parent. This is discouraged.
Acquiring proxy failed: Error calling StartServiceByName for org.bluez.obex: GDBus.Error:org.freedesktop.systemd1.NoSuchUnit: Unit dbus-org.bluez.obex.service not found.

I actually found a solution but kind of looked for quite some time for it. I thought posting it here would make it easier to find back.

Wayland is causing me a lot of issues :) Thank you for that. I'll try

2016-12-20 18:07:17 -0600 asked a question Fedora 25 - Color Pickers not working anymore

Since updating to Fedora 25, both gcolor 2 and gpick stopped working. The utility launches, but there is no way to pick a color. Nothing happens when I do it.

As a web developper, I use them a lot. Any work around is most welcome

2016-12-18 11:15:43 -0600 commented question Fedora 25 - Unable to click within windows

Wow, thank you so much, because this works. That's excellent not to have to restart the whole thing. Make it way less painful already.

I tried Ctrl + Alt + F2, and it didn't work. I'll try with F1 next time it happens and I let you know. Thanks for the tip !

Haven't tried yet but will do. I let you know the results. Thank you for the tip anyway

2016-12-18 07:18:14 -0600 asked a question Fedora 25 - Unable to click within windows

I am having this weird behavior since updating to Fedora 25. Sometimes (don't ask me when, it happened 3 times in about a week of non-stop use of my laptop to give you an idea), I can't click within windows anymore. I can click to select a window (Terminal, Firefox, VLC, whatever), and the window does get selected, but I can't click within it.

Only a reboot (which I can click) does solve the problem. I know this is kind of a vague bug report but I don't really know where to look for more info.

Any suggestion is most welcome

2016-12-17 06:09:14 -0600 asked a question Fedora 25 - VLC freezes the laptop when in fullscreen

Since updating to Fedora 25, whenever I turn VLC into fullscreen, my UI freezes. I can here the sound of the video but that's it, nothing else responds.

EDIT

I realized I could redirect the command output to a file. Here is what I did :

vlc > vlc.txt > 2>&1

Here is the output. I don't believe there is anything meaningful. The content didn't change when the laptop froze.

Hmmm... It seems I was having Synaptics installed and not libinput. I switched but... I don't see any difference unfortunately

Hmmm.. I see. I found this article on the topic, I believe you are right.

I haven't found yet how to switch but I am looking into it. Thanks for the lead

2016-12-15 05:29:18 -0600 asked a question Fedora 25 - Momentum scrolling gone

I used to have this very cool momentum scrolling feature available in Fedora < 23.

Momentum scrolling is when scrolling continues rolling on its own for some time when you scroll, as a ball would keep on rolling when pushed a little. Here is a concrete example, but it was working all the time, whenever I was scrolling a window.

Is there any way to enable this again on Fedora 25 ?

Any news? Did you finally get it to work properly? I am facing the same issue

2014-08-03 08:38:47 -0600 commented answer Connected to AP, can't get internet.

In case you do not have any default gateway set when you enter ip route, that might have to do with you connection not being configured to use DHCP. Simply go to Network Manager > Your connection > Settings > IPv4 > Addresses and there select Automatic (DHCP).

That solved it for me. Thanks for the debugging routine. Helped a lot!
