2014-02-16 18:26:08 -0600 | asked a question | Optimization for an SSD? I am running Fedora 20 on a Laptop ( Lenovo Ideapad Yoga 2 Pro ) with an SSD. My filesystem is LVM with ext4 as the format option. I am now running Fedoras as the only OS on the system with Legacy BIOS turned on (the system came configured as Secure Boot) and with the entire hard drive reformatted for Fedora. What optimizations should I institute to ensure long, and trouble free, SSD life? |

2014-02-16 14:59:12 -0600 | commented answer | is Fedora designed for server? Why are you torturing yourself with such short lifecycles on a server? A Centos server (or if you want paid support RHEL) would be stable and working for years. Cutting edge is rarely a good idea on a server. |
2014-02-16 14:56:02 -0600 | asked a question | Fedora 20 Console Font? I know how to edit the console font on Centos 6.5 by editing the SYSCONF entry in the /etc/sysconfig/i18n file, but I suspect this has changed in Fedora 20. I have a laptop with a HiDPI high resolution screen (3200 x 1800 pixels) that is handled surprisingly well by Gnome 3.10 but I often work in a TTY terminal (alt ctrl F2-F6) and the font there is tiny. How do adjust the font in the TTY terminal under Fedora 20? |

2012-12-05 05:49:15 -0600 | answered a question | is Fedora designed for server? Like the others I would recommend either RHEL or it's free clones Centos or Scientific Linux. Alternatively you could look at other distributions such as Debian Squeeze (choose the server install) or Ubuntu 12.04 LTS server install. |
2012-12-05 05:45:04 -0600 | answered a question | Can fedora16 desktop be treated as a server You can use Fedora, but like others I think either Centos or Scientific Linux, or of course RHEL if you don't mind the cost or can get it via an educational license (approx $60), are probably better choices. |
