2012-11-08 10:11:27 -0600 | commented question | No ports can be found using port scan. Hello..... |
2012-11-05 11:51:36 -0600 | asked a question | No ports can be found using port scan. Hello all, I have a laptop and a server (Home-Server) with fc17. They are both using the desktop environment. I am trying to set up a VNC server on Home-Server so that I can set everything up without having to sit in front of it for everything. I have tried using the VNC server software included in the distro. and I have tried using TigerVNC Server. I can't get either one to work. When I scan the ports of my server using my laptop, it quickly stops and shown nothing. So I disabled the firewalls on both systems and forwarded all ports to the server on my router. I still cannot find any open ports on my Home-Server. I am at my wit's end. Please help me find out why I cannot find any ports on my server. Note: I can see the ports that are open on my Windows system. Note: Router has OpenVPN Server enabled. Server: Fedora 17 Notebook: Fedora 17 Router: WNDR3700v1 Router Firmware: Gargoyle v1.5.8 |

2012-10-23 17:07:21 -0600 | asked a question | nautilus continues working after opening When I open Nautilus File Manager in FC17, Nautilus seems to continue working for another 45 seconds. I don't remember this happening in Ubuntu. What could be causing this and how do I fix it. It's rather annoying for me. |

2012-10-18 12:09:41 -0600 | commented answer | Start Numlockx at Grub Thank you @mairin |
2012-10-18 12:09:16 -0600 | marked best answer | Start Numlockx at Grub The problem is that X isn't started when plymouth is running (plymouth is where you unlock your encrypted disks, not grub). So NumlockX won't help you in plymouth, where the decrypt password dialog appears. :( |

2012-10-09 12:21:52 -0600 | commented question | File System Encryption auto unlock I am positive. I may be explaining it wrong. I am a novice Ubuntu user and noob Fedora user. All I know, is that every time I installed Ubuntu, I was asked if I wanted to encrypt my home directory. I always did, and when booting Ubuntu posts a message asking me if I want to manually mount one of my drives or continue without mounting. It always vanished and booted just fine. Once I selected the later and I was unable to find my home directory. Note: I would always enter my password at the login prompt though. This is not a big problem, because I can always auto-login my account and keep encryt |

2012-10-05 22:38:31 -0600 | commented question | Start Numlockx at Grub Not all computers have the ability to turn on numlock via BIOS. HP laptops being among them. Mine for instance is a DV7 and has a number pad next to the keyboard, but HP in their infinite evilness did not add an option in BIOS for numlock. |

2012-10-05 16:09:58 -0600 | asked a question | File System Encryption auto unlock Hi, I enabled the file system encryption upon install of Fedora 17. I would like it to auto decrypt like Ubuntu does. I want to only put my password in once, but still encrypt my files. Can anyone here help me? Note: In Ubuntu, you can chose to encrypt your home directory. When you boot your system, Ubuntu automatically decrypts the home directory for you before you log in. Edit: If it is not possible, how do I disable the disk encryption without reinstalling Fedora? I already have a lot of programs that I have added and I don't want to go through that whole process again. |
2012-10-05 16:06:20 -0600 | asked a question | Start Numlockx at Grub Is it possible to start Numlockx at Grub to make it easier to enter my filesystem encryption password? Also, I have installed Numlockx and inserted the if statement in the GDM Default file but numlock is still not enabled at the login screen. Please help me. |
