2017-11-07 11:21:30 -0600 asked a question How to find known packages?

I killed my old Linux, then I installed new, now I have problems to install some programs I had before. Before I made some backup, like the .bash_history where I can see, that it worked already.

Now when I type sudo dnf install mkv or sudo dnf install ffmpeg

I get only the message, that this package is not available. I made the update/upgrade and updated the rpmdb but there is no change to see. What can I do to provide this features?

OS: Fedora 25

2017-06-13 05:51:53 -0600 commented question Fedora 25: How to mount NTFS partitions

Thanks for the answers, so here is what I made. I replaced the UUID with /dev/sdb1 that is the place as fdisk told me. The change is, that Fedora doesn't start in rescue mode, but the partitions don't appear anymore when Fedora is running. Disabling FAST SHUTDOWN is a really great idea but I still have Windows 7 and its not available there. I chnaged umask and nothing changed.

And this is only a dual boot Desktop computer and I want to use the NTFS partitions without mounting it everytime before using.

Hi all! I try to change to Linux for good after years of excessive Windows using. To make it more comfortable I need to make some changes so I wanted to start with mounting the NTFS-partitions that they're available when Fedora booted. I thought, that I know how to handle the fstab but nothing works. The line I want to start with is:

UUID="35F2A5B32FB1AB4B"         /mnt/Musik   ntfs uid=sorimis,gid=1001,umask=0022   0   0 |

Then I get two errors. The first, when I didn't temporarily mount it:

sudo mount -a | mount: can't find UUID="35f2a5b32fb1ab4b" | 'gid' option needs a decimal value | so I thought when it doesn't find the UUID that blkid offers me I mount it temporarily and it gives me the following error:

sudo mount -a | Mount is denied because the NTFS volume is already exclusively opened.

The volume may be already mounted, or another software may use it which could be identified for example by the help of the 'fuser' command.

| 'gid' option needs a decimal value | I have no idea what the problem is, but I want the NTFS partitions work automatically on my Fedora.

Thanks for help

2017-06-10 14:01:08 -0600 asked a question Fedora 25: Install grub after Win 8.1 installation

Actually it shouldn't be a big problem, but I don't know how to solve it. Everything I found and was promising is for Ubuntu and doesn't work with Fedora. For reasons I needed an installed Windows and did't want to delete Fedora. After the installation of course Windows took control of the bootloader. I can only enter the OS with the live version but everything I found isn't working e.g. grub-install and smbmount didn't work. For any kind of help that puts my Fedora back to running mode I would be really appreciate.
