Did you install Mariadb from a different repository? I noticed the MariaDB-common vs mariadb-common. If you dont have any important database stuff on the server already I would run dnf remove MariaDB* first and try again to see if your problems are solved

2017-01-21 14:38:07 -0600 asked a question Fedora 25 computer not recognized as Laptop

I don't really have a better way of describing it, but basically I have a Dell Inspiron 7559, and got it to work with the regular open source drivers, but it does not seem to recognize the computer as a laptop or at least the monitor. If I close the lid, nothing happens, if I go to the menu option at the top right I do not see a dimming option for the monitor. The Displays settings just have the monitor described as Unknown Display, and the Function keys do not affect monitor brightness

Any ideas how to get things working correctly?

I was able to get it to work with just basic nouveau, but the install it a bit annoying. Your bios settings seem fine, just make sure to run through the install process with the basic graphics mode (you can get there in the Troubleshooting menu), the install will start, but you wont have a mouse so you have to use the tab key..... to make it worse, once you hit continue in the first page about keyboards, it gets stuck for 3-5 minutes, but once you get past that its good.

I am using this laptop now with just nouveau, it works, but you have to do it in a very specific way.

Disable Secure Boot in bios Keep UEFI enabled

Hit F12 on boot and select the UEFI USB flash drive go to troubleshooting section and select boot from basic graphics mode

The real painful part is the mouse wont work, you have to use the tab key to select continue, and any options.. and to make it a little worse, once you select your keyboard mode and hit continue it sits there for 3-5 minutes before it will go to the next screen.

I have the same issue, trying to look into it. Fedora 25 does not appear to recognize it as a laptop and does not display the dimming option. It also wont shut the monitor off when you close the lid.

You need to Disable Secure boot in the bios, keep UEFI enabled, boot with UEFI if you select one time boot when you start booting up, then when you boot to the live image go to the troubleshoot area and select using basic graphics mode.
