I started in IT around 1957 with Unit Record (way before University). Later, after university (circa 1967) I worked as an analyst/programmer. I wrote code in Cobol, Fortran, APL. As a graduate in Mathematics/physics/electronics, I did computer system/network modeling. Later, I began a ERP career as a consultant for process control, shop-floor, inventory management, and oh so much more. During my ERP work, I also had to do substantial technical writing, and learned from my proof reader, what it takes to write a good manual. My working career is in excess of 55 years.
Since 2006, I have been a Fedora user, beginning with "Fedora core". I enjoy programming in C, Shell scripts, C++, and soon, javascript. I much prefer compiled languages to interpreted ones. By the way, I am closer to age 80, than to age 75. I am an old dog that can learn new tricks.
