Turns out this was caused by an unexpected password change and some wierd caching issues. I didn't know I had changed my password, it happend by mistake.

Login and doing normal sudo tasks apparently used the cached old password, but as soon as I needed to enter sudo password in the Gnome Graphical Authentication dialog, everything fell apart.

Hi!

I recently installed Fedora 22, but I am having trouble with authentication from time to time. This is not always an issue, but it happens very often.

First time I installed Fedora 22, I couldn't log in after computer went to sleep. It would just not take my password! Even though I had logged in with it a couple of hours earlier. There was no issue with what I typed either, I even tried to spell it out in the user login, just to check that there was no issue with the keyboard setup - I saw my password come out correctly.

That time, I reinstalled, and everything seemed fine. Today I turned on my computer, and I could not log in. It worked on one user, but not the other (I have two users this time). The one that didn't work is logged in via Active Directory (but in my first install, this was not the case). I then rebooted the machine, and I could log in, but the password doesn't work for anything after that. Can't install anything. Can't open my mail. Nothing works.

Even saved password to keyring doesn't work when this happens. It completely destroys my work.

I have a feeling this is related to SSSD in some way.

EDIT: NEWS! So I just managed to reproduce the problem. After a fresh restart I can log in. After I log in, sudo in terminal work. First time a graphical authentication appears, it doesn't work anymore! After a graphical thingy asks for my password, sudo doesn't work anymore. Not in terminal either.

Can anyone help me with this?
