2016-05-12 12:12:18 -0600 asked a question Mathematica through ssh tunnel does not work in fc23

I would like to use mathematica on my raspberrypi through ssh from my desktop computer running fc23 but it just hangs and does nothing.

I can open other X application like epiphany, lxterminal from this X session.

I can also open mathematica through X11 from other linux computers running e.g. fc24 beta or debian.

This is the trace from fc23:

ssh -vv -X raspberrypi

2016-02-05 13:40:05 -0600 asked a question remote cups printer: The printer is not responding

I had configured my venerable HP LaserJet 2100, connected to a Raspberry Pi, for Fedora 23 with ipp / raw print queue, and it used to work fine until some weeks ago. Since last week, I always get a "Printer not responding" message. I reconfigured the printer, it was auto-detected, but I still cannot print.

Driver: HP LaserJet 2100 Foomatic/pxlmono (recommended) (grayscale, 2-sided printing) Connection: dnssd://HP%20LaserJet%202100%20Series%20%40%20raspberrypi._ipp._tcp.local/cups?uuid=fe7c507d-a39b-3a53-74b8-c2859ce75a4b Defaults: job-sheets=none, none media=iso_a4_210x297mm sides=one-sided

The printer works with any other system, including several debian stable instances, android, win7, ios.

2015-11-04 10:56:45 -0600 asked a question dnf vs. packagekit

I'm a bit confused about software management in Fedora.

  1. dnf update and soon afterwards I got a notification about outstanding software updates. dnf update still didn't show any updates.

  2. Install any package from Gnome Software (which seems to use packagekit) or from the shell:

[kp@nuc ~]$ pypy bash: pypy: command not found... Install package 'pypy' to provide command 'pypy'? [N/y] y

dnf autoremove removes pypy and dependent packages.

So, the question is: do dnf and packagekit communicate in any way? Why are there two concurrent package management systems?

2015-09-27 11:01:59 -0600 answered a question Unable to upgrade to Fedora 23 Server Beta from command line

After the upgrade most of my packages are from Fedora 23 as expected, but some are still from fc22, most of which seem to be from Rpmfusion.

# rpm -qa |grep fc23.x86_64|wc -l
1499

# rpm -qa |grep fc22.x86_64|wc -l
68

The file /etc/redhat-release comes from this package. Did you upgrade this one?

# rpm -qf /etc/redhat-release
fedora-release-23-0.17.noarch

I used

fedup --network 23

to upgrade because the way described in . https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Upgrad... did not work because of unresolved dependencies.

2015-05-15 10:06:01 -0600 asked a question evolution 3.16: Failed to expunge folder "Trash"

With the new version from f22 I get this message every time I empty the trash folder. "The reported error was "Error storing "Postausgang" (Outgoing mail): folder is read-only".

This is an imap account. Is it a bug or an error in the configuration?
