How do I fix this?

2014-11-08 08:08:32 -0600 commented answer Coin3D library using cmake on Fedora 20 - fatal error: Inventor/Qt/SoQt.h: No such file or directory

I have specified set(CMAKE_MODULE_PATH "${CMAKE_CURRENT_SOURCE_DIR}/cMake") which picks up cMake/FindSoQt.cmake. But it doesn't seem to work.

2014-11-07 12:59:03 -0600 asked a question Coin3D library using cmake on Fedora 20 - fatal error: Inventor/Qt/SoQt.h: No such file or directory

I have create a project that uses Cmake and Coin3D libraries: https://github.com/tuxdna/phyloviz

I am getting a fatal error: Inventor/Qt/SoQt.h: No such file or directory. This is what I am doing:

$ sudo yum install cmake SoQt-devel
$ cd path/to/phyloviz
[phyloviz] $ mkdir build
[phyloviz] $ cd build/
[phyloviz/build] $ cmake ../ -DCOIN3D_INCLUDE_DIRS=/usr/include/Coin2/

-- Found Coin3D: /usr/lib64/libCoin.so

Now lets compile the code

[phyloviz/build] $ make
Scanning dependencies of target ev-iv
[ 50%] Building CXX object CMakeFiles/ev-iv.dir/src/ev-iv/ev-iv.cc.o
.../phyloviz/src/ev-iv/ev-iv.cc:1:30: fatal error: Inventor/Qt/SoQt.h: No such file or directory

compilation terminated.

make[1]: *** [CMakeFiles/ev-iv.dir/all] Error 2
make: *** [all] Error 2
[phyloviz/build]$

Even though I have specified the include directory using cmake ../ -DCOIN3D_INCLUDE_DIRS=/usr/include/Coin2/, I am getting the fatal error above.

This works fine on Ubuntu 14.04. How can I resolve this?

2012-01-03 11:38:54 -0600 answered a question Why am I denied access while using the NFS4 client mount in Fedora 16?

This can happen due to various reasons. Can you check

  • firewall rules on the server
  • /var/log/message output on server
  • ensure that client is actually making a connection to the server

Also, does this help?

2011-12-19 06:39:55 -0600 answered a question F16 hung up in SYSV: Late init script

I re-installed gnome:

sudo yum erase @gnome-desktop
yum install @gnome-desktop

And since I have NVIDIA card, I had to install its drivers: http://www.if-not-true-then-false.com/2011/fedora-16-nvidia-drivers-install-guide-disable-nouveau-driver/

First I tried akmod-nvidia drivers, which didn't work. Later I installed akmod-nvidia drivers. This apparently resolved the issue.

But now I am getting a screen freeze with following in the /var/log/messages:

2011-12-19 02:41:23 -0600 asked a question F16 hung up in SYSV: Late init script

I upgraded from F15 to F16 (x86_64), with nvidia graphics card on a Dell 73500 workstation.

After rebooting, system is hung up with the following message:

Starting SYSV: Late init script for live image...
Started SYSV: Late init script for live image...
_

( with a blinking cursor )

I can however go to single user mode by setting kernel boot parameters.

What could be wrong?

2011-11-18 01:09:02 -0600 answered a question emacs running slow on Fedora 16 and nvidia

Is slowness only associated with Emacs or does it happen with other applications also?

I suspect that nvidia drivers could be a problem in the later case.

2011-11-15 00:00:28 -0600 answered a question Emacs key binding Ctrl+Space not working on Fedora 16 GNOME or XFCE

I figured it out myself.

In Gnome Shell top panel, right click the "IBus input method framework" and select Preferences. This will open "IBus Preferences" window.

Then in "Keyboard Shortcuts", if "Toggle" has "Control-space" keyboard shortcut, delete it ( add add another shortcut if you need to ).

Now restart Emacs.

Emacs key binding Ctrl+Space not working on Fedora 16 GNOME or XFCE

Is Ctrl+Space being intercepted by GDB or by IBus ?

2011-11-11 12:40:30 -0600 answered a question How can I create my own RPM?

In the book Beginning Linux Programming 4th Edition, there is a very nice step-by-step tutorial of working with and creating your own RPM package files ( see Chapter 9: Development Tools ).

I always recommend that book for anyone starting to program on GNU/Linux environment. It has a very good coverage of major topics.

@jdeltoro1973

Which manual have you read? I was thinking if you can go through this one:

And yes, it is step-by-step tutorial.

If you are using GNOME on Fedora 14, you may want to set it in display/power preferences.

I also do it the same way.
