2015-01-31 00:50:52 -0600 | commented answer | How To configure GDM Login Screen Background ? @mclmmc - Not really sure. Will it break the gnome-shell or override my settings ? P.S. I have altogether removed the noise-texture.png file and updated the gnome-shell.css file accordingly. |

All looks good, but I have one problem - setting a background image on the login screen. I am trying to set the Whispy_Tails.jpg image in the /usr/share/backgrounds/gnome directory but it's not working. I tried whatever was mentioned here, but no luck. I know the difference between Desktop Background and Lock Screen. In this post, I am not talking about either. I am talking about the GDM background screen (which is currently Grey/Black) where I login. Using Fedora 21 Workstation x86_64 with GNOME. Thanks !! |
2015-01-26 10:29:39 -0600 | edited question | Rhythmbox error - Unable to play mp3 Hi, I am struggling with rhythmbox on F21 x86_64 since some time. Installed the gstreamer plugins, still no luck. I tried playing an mp3, but nothing happened. The Rhythmbox titlebar said "Paused". Below is the error that I get when I run rhythmbox from the command line: And here are the installed gstreamer packages: Any help is greatlly appreciated. Thanks !! EDIT: The problem apparently was because of the mp3 file I was using to test Rhythmbox. After a while, I tried other mp3 files and they worked fine. The mp3 file in question worked fine in VLC and Clementine, so not sure why Rhythmbox was having trouble playing. Strangely, I got the same log/error both times when I ran rhythmbox from the command line. The only difference, one time it played without any problem, the other time it just displayed (Paused). |

2015-01-26 05:06:34 -0600 | commented answer | How To configure GDM Login Screen Background ? Thank you for pointing me in the right direction. The method you suggested works, but the image comes up tiled or stretched (in case the image is not of the correct size) and also I have to convert the image into PNG and rename accordingly. I did a little research around and found that the gnome-shell.css file in the same directory has information about the image on the GDM login screen. So I modified it as follows and things worked as expected (wiith any file name and any file type). Accepting your answer. Thanks !! |

2015-01-26 03:39:04 -0600 | commented answer | Rhythmbox error - Unable to play mp3 Hi. Thank you for your answer. Yes, I installed F21 from a live media and the computer is already connected to the internet. Rhythmbox didn't prompt anything. It just sat there saying "(Paused)" on top. |

I did what you said and restarted the machine after installing the codecs and tried again. Same error. Below is the list of codecs/plugins installed: |
