2017-08-15 21:57:55 -0600 asked a question Unable to use ANY 'Indian' keyboard

After upgrading to Fedora 26 KDE spin, I am unable to use any Indian keyboard.

System Settings -> Hardware -> Input devices -> Keyboard -> Layouts -> Configure Layouts -> Add -> Layout = Indian -> Variant = Select ANY variant -> Label = Choose any

After saving it, when I try switching to the layout, it is not there is the keyboard layout panel widget!

When I select some other keyboard, say, Arabic, it shows in the keyboard layout panel widget.

What is happening here? And how do I fix it?

2017-07-30 21:09:03 -0600 commented question how to customize the keyboard layout for every single letter in typing using hindi fonts in Fedora 26 Gnome ??

@steveebey73742 I tried doing that for Indian languages, could not. Let me know if you can actually do it in F26. System Setting, Keyboard, Layout, Indian, Default (variant) does not work :(

2017-07-16 20:21:12 -0600 asked a question Can not switch between three keyboard layouts in Fedora26

Freshly upgraded to Fedora26 KDE Spin.

I have multiple keyboard layouts. To be specific, US, Dvorak and Indian - same as in Fedora25.

When I try to switch layouts using the key combination, it switches between the first two layouts only. The third layout is completely ignored.

How do I set this right?

2017-07-16 00:36:34 -0600 asked a question Updates available while downloading system upgrade

Running Fedora 25 KDE Spin.

I had done:

sudo dnf upgrade --refresh

And was doing:

sudo dnf system-upgrade download --refresh --releasever=26

The total download is around 2 Gb.

When it had downloaded around 200Mb, there was a notification 'Updates available'.

So, I interrupted my system-upgrade command and did:

sudo dnf upgrade

All went well and when I resumed

sudo dnf system-upgrade download --refresh --releasever=26

It started downloading from scratch!

Now, it has downloaded close to 1.8 Gb and I got another notification 'Upgrades available'.

Do I have to go through the same rigmarole again and again and again?

2017-03-03 05:48:55 -0600 commented question Stop/ Pause the update

@florian I am on a slow internet connection. For ten or so updates, there is not much problem. But at times I have had hundreds of updates (279 updates are waiting presently). On such occassions, it takes considerably longer.

2017-03-02 07:05:12 -0600 asked a question Stop/ Pause the update

Running Fedora Workstation 25 KDE Spin.

Every now and then, I will get a notification informing me about updates being available. There is a little up arrow in a circle icon in the system tray.

Once I click on it and click on install updates, there is no going back. I can not pause or stop it.

Is there any way to stop/ pause it?

2017-02-21 07:11:41 -0600 answered a question Clementine - unable to edit the currently playing song

When 'Monitor library for changes' in Tools -> Preferences -> Music Library is selected, everything works as expected.

@florian If I check 'Monitor library for changes' everything seems to work. I will add that as an answer

2017-02-14 08:33:47 -0600 asked a question Clementine - unable to edit the currently playing song

Running Clementine 1.3.1 on Fedora 25.

I am unable to edit the details of the currently playing song. The 'Edit metadata' box opens. I can make the changes but they are not stored. When the player advances to the next song, if I go back, I still see the old metadata.

What could the problem be? How do I set it right?

2016-12-14 06:15:46 -0600 commented answer Files don't go to Trash

@moe120, the permissions on ~/.local/share/Trash/files are 700. I have tried deleting using the right click as well as pressing the delete key when caps-lock is OFF. Same result.

2016-12-14 00:54:31 -0600 asked a question Files don't go to Trash

Running Fedora Workstation 25 fully updated.

When I delete a file from Files, it does not go to the Trash. Instead it is just deleted.!

There is more than enough space available on the hard disk and there are files till as recently as Monday in the Trash.

Hwo do I set this right?

2016-11-24 07:16:01 -0600 commented question Cryptsetup vulnerability - when will it be taken care of?

@jake I could not understand the article referred to in the link fully but what I gather is there is a possibility of remote access AFTER the initial physical access. That is scary, IMHO.

2016-11-21 10:08:44 -0600 asked a question Cryptsetup vulnerability - when will it be taken care of?

This link talks about a serious vulnerability of cryptsetup.

My disk is encrypted and the system is updated. I could enter the shell as described in the above link by hitting Enter for for than a minute.

When shoud we expect Fedora to take care of this vulnerability?

2016-10-16 00:46:27 -0600 commented answer Do Canon scanners work with Fedora?

@florian The link that you gave only tells that Linux drivers are not available.

2016-10-15 07:44:33 -0600 asked a question Do Canon scanners work with Fedora?

I have quite a few photo prints and paper documents that I plan to digitize.

I looked at the scanners available and found Canons to be useful for my intended work (Canon LiDE 120 or Canon LiDE 220). The documentation about both is silent about Linux support.

However, reviews of Simple Scan in Software talk about it being quite a capable application.

Do (Can) these scanners work with Fedora 24 Workstation?
