Should I uninstall an application if I want to install another version I have built of its source?

On Fedora 25 x86_64 I have LMMS 1.1.3 installed from Fedora repositories. Now I have compiled LMMS 1.2.0-RC2 from Github. I have configured and built it and want to install it. I assume the installation location will be /usr/local. The question is should I uninstall the version I already have of LMMS or any software in general before I install a locally built version of it? Would not that create any mess-ups in the system?
