I had Fedora 17 running until it indicated Updates were ready (196 - I am a new user). It began the download got part way through and the system froze. Nothing worked, no mouse action registered. Finally I shut the system down. I also have Windows 8 in the boot menu. Three questions. 1) How do I change the boot menu to default to Win8? and 2) How do I get Fedora running again? 3) How do I shut down Fedora, I can't locate any icon and the terminal won't let me process anything even with my admin password?
Fedora will start but freezes after just a few minutes. Update indicates everything is up to date but it is apparent something is missing or corrupted.
Please be easy on me, I'm in my mid-eighties but still would like to learn Fedora but maintain my Windows system until I know my way around Fedora.
