lag after waking from sleep mode

I'm on Fedora 29 but this problem has been happening on every Fedora version I've used on this laptop.

At night I put the laptop to sleep and wake it up in the morning. I have to restart the laptop everytime because after every sleep the CPU is at 100% and it lags and is very slow but as soon as I restart the laptop it works fine and is back to normal. Anyone know how I can troubleshoot this and fix it?
