Fedora 16 + Windows 7 + Shared Partition

Good Afternoon All

I want to install Fedora 16 64bit to dual boot with Windows 7 64bit. I want to use it for

1. Android development using JDK + Android SDK + IntelliJ IDEA 11

2. For FUN....

My Current System is

C Drive: 50GB - Windows 7 - NTFS

D Drive: 150GB - Data Disk - NTFS

I will repartition D Drive into 50 + 100GB so that my new system looks like

C Drive: 50GB - Windows 7 - NTFS

D Drive: 50GB - Fedora 16 - ext4 or whatever 

E Drive: 100GB - Data Disk - NTFS

My Questions are:

Can I repartition D drive from Windows 7 and then install Fedora on the new D drive?
I want to be able to share the Data partition (NTFS) between two OS.. Is it possible?

The answer to both your questions is yes, but it's probably not going to look exactly like you're envisioning.

1.) Yes you can repartition the D: drive from Windows 7. My recommendation: Run the Disk Management util and shrink D: to 100GB from Windows. Then leave the rest of the space (~50GB) unallocated. The Fedora installer will take care of creating the necessary partitions out of that space and installing to it.

2) Fedora has no problem reading & writing to NTFS filesystems. I do it all the time--that's how I share between Fedora & Win7 (on my dual-boot system).

You should be able to resize the partition on your D drive during the Fedora installation process, and yes, Fedora will be able to read your NTFS volumes.
