Fedora 25 is running fine off USB flash drive on Acer One netbook with Atom processor, but won't recognize HD when I try and install. I assume there's an issue with the drive's formatting, but can't figure out what I'm doing wrong. Using Win10, I first tried with NTFS formatting, then EXT3, then ran DISKPART CLEAN. No luck. Any suggestions?
Finally got it: I changed my SATA Mode in Bios from IDE to AHCI and now Fedora sees HD just fine!
Depending on age of your laptop some hard drives won't pick up a dual layer cd. Assuming you burnt a iso image file,on my desk top I have to press delete when the bios comes up I have to scroll to boot and set as first boot cdrom second hard drive. If needed you can make a bootable iso image on a thumb drive. Fedora has a couple of programs that do this. Unetbootin is one.
Your trying to find the cd-rom not the hard drive to boot. First you need to check the boot disk then start up
I can boot just fine off the USB, and I'm able to run Fedora 25 from live media (USB), but whether I choose option to "install to Hard Drive" or go to UTILITIES, DISKS, the only thing that shows up under Local Standard Disks is the USB stick. I've tried two different drives, both work fine under Win10 and are seen by BIOS, but not by Fedora, which is why I'm wondering if I'm not formatting them correctly, but nothing I've tried seems to work.
Insert your install disk shut down computer. Press delete as your starting up in bios go to start up boot. Change to boot from cd-rom check f10 click ok. The computer should boot from the install cd. After it loads it should check the media [install cd] If it says ok to install it should check out the system. A screen should come allowing you to try Fedora or show a picture of a hard drive. Click on the hard drive picture. It will allow you to install key board and log in passwords. It should allow you to check were you want to install and how much of the drive it needs.

Loads of questions about this to ask..but assuming that you are installing on a separate disk / Partition...when you run Fedora live from USB, go to UTILITIES, DISKS - you shoudl be able to see your drive in there - when I just installed Fedora25 off a USB, I found a blank Disk was best and then when you select the disk on install, it will most likely format it to ext4
Yeah, that's my problem, I've tried two different hard drives,yet neither shows up under UTILITIES, DISKS. All I can see is the 8GB USB drive. Both HDs show up in BIOS and work fine under windows, that's why I'm thinking I'm missing something basic/simple.
