Fedora 25 - Unable to click within windows

asked 2016-12-18 07:18:14 -0600

I am having this weird behavior since updating to Fedora 25. Sometimes (don't ask me when, it happened 3 times in about a week of non-stop use of my laptop to give you an idea), I can't click within windows anymore. I can click to select a window (Terminal, Firefox, VLC, whatever), and the window does get selected, but I can't click within it.

Only a reboot (which I can click) does solve the problem. I know this is kind of a vague bug report but I don't really know where to look for more info.

Any suggestion is most welcome

did you tried switching to console and back CTRL ALT F6 followed by CTRL ALT F1 ? Does it work then?

I tried Ctrl + Alt + F2, and it didn't work. I'll try with F1 next time it happens and I let you know. Thanks for the tip !

Wow, thank you so much, because this works. That's excellent not to have to restart the whole thing. Make it way less painful already.

Have you tried running Gnome on Xorg server instead of Wayland? You can switch it on the login screen with the little gearbox icon. Xorg is less secure but Wayland causes some weird bugs like this to me too.
