After upgrading F15 to F16 with F16 DVD (with some problem due to separated var partition and raid 1 boot partition), Fedora 16 boot successfully on kernel-3.1.0-7.fc16.x86_64 but not on 3.1.4-1, 3.1.5-1 and 3.1.5-2.

It ask for root passwd for emergency mode, after lines complaining about failed fsck with error code 8 and can't read superblock on md devices.

Why does kernel installed by dvd boot and last update kernel wont ?

edit: I've tried grub2-mkconfig -o /boot/grub2/grub.cfg without more results...

Is this an old RAID partition? What version of the metadata are you using?

Try updating to the lastest mdadm package and reinstalling the latest Fedora kernel (to rebuild the initramfs). Try booting that.

It's old RAID partition with 0.90 metadata version.

Updated today to the lastest kernel ( 3.1.5-6.fc16 ) and booted successfully !

Thanks for the answer Mooninite !
