Fedora 25 - Momentum scrolling gone

asked 2016-12-15 04:33:59 -0600

I used to have this very cool momentum scrolling feature available in Fedora < 23.

Momentum scrolling is when scrolling continues rolling on its own for some time when you scroll, as a ball would keep on rolling when pushed a little. Here is a concrete example, but it was working all the time, whenever I was scrolling a window.

Is there any way to enable this again on Fedora 25 ?

probably you used synaptics driver and are now using libinput. As far as i understood libinput lets the application handle the momentum scroll, whereas synaptics handles it directly.

Hmmm.. I see. I found this article on the topic, I believe you are right.

I haven't found yet how to switch but I am looking into it. Thanks for the lead

Hmmm... It seems I was having Synaptics installed and not libinput. I switched but... I don't see any difference unfortunately
