Gnome Tweak Tool will not show icons on Desktop

25/Gnome

In gnome-tweak-tool, setting "icons on Desktop" to "on" will not display desktop icons. An online article recommended installing "dconf-editor" in addition to gnome-tweak-tool. Perhaps there is a conflict? I have since removed dconf-editor; but I still can't display the icons.

Thanks

Yup,

Wayland is just having all kinds of problems... That's why I dropped back to X at the greeter.

IMHO, the decision to roll-out Wayland with these kinds of problems was seriously misguided. Also, if you're going to go ahead and do it anyway, why put Walyand as the 'default' option at the greeter? Why not just make it the middle option or the last option and then just let people try it out. Instead I was committed, against my will, to this EXPERIMENT; and my workflow was DESTROYED in the process. Not very considerate, when you come to think about it.

Desktop icons are disabled for gnome wayland sessions as it caused nautilus to crash.
