Hello,

What is the best way to start an SSH or GPG agent similar to seahorse-daemon while using KDE? I would like to use something integrated with KDE. I have just started using KDE 4 (i.e. I have not used KDE since before KDE 4) and would like to find the best way to do store passphrases during my login session.

Thanks,

Joel

Both ssh-agent and gpg-agent are started by default on Fedora 23 KDE Plasma Desktop. In fact ssh-agent is the one that starts Plasma 5. gpg-agent is started by /etc/kde/env/gpg-agent-startup.sh. That's why I highly recommend everybody to run the KDE spin.

ps aux | grep ssh-agent
/usr/bin/ssh-agent /bin/sh -c exec -l /bin/bash -c "/usr/bin/startkde"

You want to write a script that adds ssh keys to ssh-agent. I have written how to set that up on my personal blog.
