Cannot install vlc in fedora 25

HI all,

I cannot install vlc in fedora 25 and getting the below output in terminal,

[root@localhost tracer]# yum install vlc

That looks like a network issue make sure your internet is working and ping mirrors.rpmfusion.org to see it connect maybe they have issue, in that case you will have to wait a bit and try later.

To install vlc in Fedora25

1.) Enable the rpmfusion free repository on your system:

su -c 'dnf install https://download1.rpmfusion.org/free/fedora/rpmfusion-free-release-$(rpm -E %fedora).noarch.rpm'

2.) Install vlc

sudo dnf install vlc

1.) If possible, I would never install a rpm package with the --nogpgcheck flag. And, in this case, it is just not need.

2.) The link you are providing is not correct

3.) To set up rpmfusion as software repository on your Fedora system, simply follow instructions here. Check here to verify their keys.

Found the problem.. I used the expired installation link... which doesn't exist.. But now I used link from link text and was able to install vlc without any issues..

Glad you made it but those instructions are so damn outdated. Someone should send a little note to videolan people. Better take off that information, or update it...

I am also having a similar problem and cannot get VLC working on Fedora 25.

rpm -ivh http://download1.rpmfusion.org/free/f...

Fails with: file /etc/yum.repos.d/rpmfusion-free.repo from install of rpmfusion-free-release-25-1.noarch conflicts with file from package rpmfusion-free-release-24-1.noarch

Which I do not see installed:

So, in your case, to figure out what rpmfusion rpms you have installed, run rpm -qa | grep rpmfusion. Just remove

rpmfusion-nonfree-release-24-2.noarch
rpmfusion-free-release-24-2.noarch

if they appear (sudo dnf remove ...), then install rpmfusion for F25 following instructions here
