Since kernel upgrade keyboard acts odd in luks gui - can't enter Passphrase

Hi i'm running Fedora 24 on a Mac Mini (So EFI) All was working fine, during boot Luks would ask for passphrase to access the encrypted harddrive and all was good. Since the last couple of kernel upgrades if i choose those from the Grub boot menu my keyboard behaves strangely - some keys Enter Slash etc switch between gui and text mode but none will actually enter. If i choose my older kernel 4.8.4-200 all works fine.

Any ideas? I've googled and googled but can't find a similar issue. I have tried a non mac keyboard and same issue occurs.
