I decided to reopen this question from an year ago: https://ask.fedoraproject.org/en/ques...

In fedora 24 gnome, screen auto-rotation (plus auto-brightness) only works after putting the machine in suspend once.

Following advice from another user, I ran the debug commands for iio-sensors-proxy.
According to the output, this issue affects both screen-rotation (accelerometer) and ambient-light sensors.
Before suspend:

$ gdbus introspect --system --dest net.hadess.SensorProxy --object-path /net/hadess/SensorProxy
    node /net/hadess/SensorProxy {
    node /net/hadess/SensorProxy {
    interface net.hadess.SensorProxy {
    properties:
      readonly b HasAccelerometer = true;
      readonly s AccelerometerOrientation = 'undefined';
      readonly b HasAmbientLight = true;
      readonly s LightLevelUnit = 'lux';
      readonly d LightLevel = 0.0;
  };

After suspend:

$ gdbus introspect --system --dest net.hadess.SensorProxy --object-path /net/hadess/SensorProxynode   /net/hadess/SensorProxy {
    interface net.hadess.SensorProxy {
    properties:
      readonly b HasAccelerometer = true;
      readonly s AccelerometerOrientation = 'normal';
      readonly b HasAmbientLight = true;
      readonly s LightLevelUnit = 'lux';
      readonly d LightLevel = 4.0;
  };

Looks like the sensors are detected before suspend, but their values are not defined. After suspend, these values are magically assigned.
Does anyone have thoughts on what might be going on here? Looks like a Gnome issue no?

Edit: Why won't line breaks work inside code text? sorry for ugly reading

I took the freedom to edit your question in order to show how to format it the way you want it. What you may want to to is marking the text, and then clicking the symbol that shows 101010, the 5th icon from the left. That one is different from putting something in back quotes
