No Wireless option in Fedora 24

asked 2016-11-06 09:41:23 -0500

I've been using Fedora 24 (on an Asus X540LA laptop) for months, and the wifi was working fine for most of that time. However, within the last week, I began to have trouble connecting to wifi networks. I toggled wifi on and off, and after that, I am no longer shown a wireless option in Network Manager. The ethernet connection works with no issues. I checked the UEFI, and wifi is not disabled there. I have tried running lspci, but I don't see a network device listed there. Here is the output of lspci:

  • try running sudo dnf reinstall NetworkManager
    • Did you install any packages fro your driver RTL8101 ?
    • try to change your dns to google or some one else dns to see if that work google dns is 8.8.8.8 you can do that by adding it to /etc/resolv.conf file for the test. When you open that file see if you have any dns on it. It should have a line like nameserver 8.8.8.8

Reinstalling NetworkManager didn't fix it. I'll try what you mentioned for dns.
