This is a bug in Fedora 18 (GNOME 3.6)

The upstream GNOME bug has been fixed, so this issue will no longer occur when Fedora 19 is released. However, there is currently no known workaround for this issue. And due to fact the fix required the whole background drawing back-end to be rewritten, this will not be backported to Fedora 18.

Further details on this bug can be found here: https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=686943
