Fedora 17 Install with USB

you should delete all partitions on the usb stick and then rerun the LiveUSB tool. You can use the "Disk Utility" tool for this task.

Just select your usbstick on the left side and then remove all partitions on it.

You can also try this method:

su -c 'dd if=Fedora-16-x86_64-Live-Desktop.iso of=/dev/sd''X'' bs=8M'

But be SURE to replace the X with the correct device path /dev/sdX. You can see the device path in the Disk Utility

hi, may be some one has got the error before,but if not here it is,

i am trying to install fedora 17 dvd from usb pendrive. i have used all the usb bootable tools, unetbootin,yumi,universal and all, but during installation after writing configuration to hdd the system generates an error related to mounting, i tried with 3 different hdd, but still the problem persists........... i am doing all this from windows 7

Your bootable usb wasnt created in a proper way....I have used (From windows) http://www.linuxliveusb.com/

Dont use unetbootin....as there are some compatability issues are there...

If you are creating the bootable media from windows trying the unetbootin tool might be a good option since it configures most aspects of the boot sequence itself. You basically just tell the application which usb drive og sd card you want to create the bootable partition on.

unetbootin can be found here: http://unetbootin.sourceforge.net/

There are other similar tools. Based on my experiences this is by far the best one for a novice user.

this command is used to make the live DVD of fedora-17

But if you want to make live bootable usb pendrive then use these commands on your terminal

**yum install livecd-tools

livecd-iso-to-disk --format --reset-mbr PATH-TOISOIMAGE.iso /dev/sd*

'*' will be associated node on your system if you connect usb after 1st startup then it will be /dev/sdb

Then process will check your image and then you hav to press enter .
