3G usb modem does not switch to modem-mode anymore

I use a 3G usb modem and the wvdial program to connect to the web (model: Onda MSA 190UP).

It was working until I updated the usbmodeswitch and usbmodeswitch-data, on Fedora 16 (x86_64).

usb_modeswitch from 1.2.0 to 1.2.0-1

usb_modeswitch-data from 20111023 to 20111023-1

After the update, Fedora can detect the new device was plugged (it produces a sound), but the flip-flop usb device does not switch to the modem mode anymore. I can also see that special files like /dev/ttyUSB0 ... /dev/ttyUSB3 are not created anymore.

What should I do?

If you have a problem like this again. I assume it is fixed now. Plug in the device and execute as root

# dmesg

You should see something like sr1. Replace sr1 with what you see in next command

# eject /dev/sr1
