How can I customize aterm on fedora

I'm looking for a light weight terminal. Something lighter than gnome-terminal. I use screen(byobu) rather, so I'd really want to use something that doesn't eat a lot of system resources. I came across aterm, which looks nice. However, I'm unable to customize it. I downloaded this file as a sample .Xdefaults file, but aterm apparently doesn't pick it up. Anyone know what's wrong?

Ugh! I found the answer. Once you make changes to the Xresources file, you need to run this command:

xrdb -merge ~/.Xresources
