No other error message before that. This reads when I thought about running just a boot-up disk, not a live install one, of Fedora 15 so I could format(erase everything)on my hard drive. This all began after installing the new software update Linux kernel version 3.2.2-1 but it never fully loaded. Messing around after that it said I had many duplicates, then it deleted all of them but 12 duplicates. Now it appears as if all my other 3 Linux kernel boot versions won't load up or are deleted with the exception of 3.2.2-1 viewing that it never fully loaded. I have now placed my original, beforehand, Fedora 16 Beta CD-R live install disk in to my Toshiba laptop and it reads pretty much the same at the end (dracut:/#), except, more information of what's now on my Linux kernel hard drive, I'm assuming? This is the reading:: dracut Warning: no root device "live:/dev/disk/by-label/Fedora-16Beta-i686-Live-Desktop" found, and then, Dropping to debug shell, and then, sh:can't access tty;job control turned off, and then, dracut:/#, and then I'm assuming the viewing of the 5 maps on my Linux kernel hard drive now? 1./dev/sda1: UUID="69665472-4214-4301-907d-bbd9992db4b3" TYPE="ext4" 2./dev/sda2: UUID="MXbFNz-VFwx-Qzj5-80b7-N8IB-7fsy-LUwB69" TYPE="LVM2member" 3./dev/mapper/VolGroup-lvswap: UUID="93edff74-f476-4690-8882-217bbbc0d657" TYPE="swap" 4./dev/mapper/VolGroup-lvhome: UUID="6041f328-ecb7-486b-adf2-88c50061f8b3" TYPE="ext4" 5./dev/mapper/VolGroup-lvroot: LABEL="_Fedora-16-Beta-" UUID="08407a3b-dda6-4b7d-ae0c-a401dd6c9826" TYPE="ext4", and then last reading is, dracut:/# ....(Note) Bodhi Zazen, help to fix this would be most appreciated because the monitor screen just went out on my other Toshiba laptop and I have none. Thanks! -)
What error message do you get before that ? Typically you drop to a root shell when the root file system can not be mounted.
how do you install fedora 20 on a windows 8.1 computer with bios or uefi. (not sure which i have.) it keeps saying failure to boot from live media... how do i fix this.
Lots of recent questions on this topic - read those, not a two year old discussion of F16 beta....
