No Login screen - Gui displays only Fedora banner (circle with f)

I picked up a Fedora 17 install dvd from a coworker. This was to fix a file system problem and upgrade from Fedora 15. After getting past the error that displays "use rpcbind -w", the install completed. After reboot, the final screen screen just displayed the banner, with no option to log on. The previous system had a logon screen. What do I need to do to get this logon screen?
