Kernel panic on boot
Today I updated my laptop running fedora 24 workstation. It seems that it updated my kernel. Sadly now it kernel panics right after grub. (I never see welcome to fedora workstation)
Luckily I can select an older version of the kernel from grub that works. The kernel that works: 4.5.5-300.fc24.x86_64 The kernel(s) that doesn't work: 4.6.5-300.fc24.x86_64 4.6.6-300.fc24.x86_64
I've reinstalled the latest kernel but the problem persists. My question is if it's possible to restore the 4.5.5 kernel as main version and black list any new kernels?
Or is there a really easy way to fix this issue?
You can do set the default kernel to be the one that works and ignore kernel updates. Look here https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/GRUB_2
You don't say what your laptop is, so I wonder if you are hitting this issue: https://www.happyassassin.net/2016/07...
