Fedora 24 install hangs possibly due to nvidia cards
Hi, I'm trying to install Fedora 24 in my computer using the Live image I downloaded from fedora website and burned in a DVD. The problem is it keeps freezing in the same point: Wait for Plymounth to finish (or some very similar message). I believe the problem is due to my video cards...
My system is a Z170 chipset with 2 gtx80 ti video cards. The hard drive is a SSD unit with Windows 10 already installed. Please tell me if I can provide any other useful information.
Welcome to ask.fedora. Yes, nVidia cards can be a problem at times, but generally, the OSS nouveau drivers work well enough to allow you to install the system. Are you able to run the LiveDVD system itself, or is that where it hangs?
OSS nouveau has never managed to run for more than 20 minutes without screen corruption or crashing here with any recent cards I have owned.
With the nonfree nvidia driver my uptime can be months without issue
Sorry, didn't see the comment until now. I'm unable to run the LiveDVD. It doesn't matter if I choose to test and install or to run the LiveDVD, the problem is the same.
Anyway, is there a way of installing in text mode and later install proper nvidia drivers?
