I currently have 2 gigabytes of RAM in my computer, but I'm gonna add 2 more gigabytes and I was wondering what could happen with the swap partition if it was created based on the current memory size, so my question is, do I have to resize the current swap partition to match the new memory size or there is no need to change anything?
If you want to be able to hibernate your PC (suspend-to-disk), you will have to increase the Swap partition to at least match the RAM size.
If you don't want to use this feature, there is no immediate need of increasing swap. And, in case your swap gets filled up (free -h) so that your PC becomes unresponsive, you can either increase it or create a swap file of custom size on your / (slash root) partition, sometimes that's easier. Just monitor usage of swap and memory usage and then decide what to do.
I suppose to avoid any problems I should resize it to the new memory size...
