I have a Dell Latitute E5570 with Fedora 23 64bit running Cinnamon.

When using Cinnamon's settings, the changes I make are not applied, for example: Tap to click, Reverse scrolling, Three-Finger-Tap or any other option, not even deactivating the touchpad works.

I do not know the vendor of the touchpad.

# synclient
Couldn't find synaptics properties. No synaptics driver loaded?

I did not try enforcing it with a xorg-config file. Is there a way to check why the settings are not applied or saved? journalctl -f shows no entry concerning the touchpad, Xorg.0.log also not.

F23 started using xorg-x11-drv-libinput as the default input driver. Unfortunately this requires some changes in the client stack because the ways to enable tapping, etc. changed. Cinnamon has not updated to those changes and still tries to set properties on a driver that isn't in use anymore (xorg-x11-drv-synaptics).

So your options are either: an xorg.conf snippet that sets those (see man libinput) or uninstall xorg-x11-drv-libinput to fall back to the legacy synaptics driver (which is in maintenance mode and won't see further fixes). sorry.

Thank you very much for the clarification. I will wait then.
