Dell Fan control on Linux

I have a Dell Inspiron M5010 which is known for overheating. The Dell BIOS fan control SUCKS and it has a major effect on the performance.

I want to be able to be able to change speeds of the fan whenever I want to keep my laptop cool and keep the performance up.

Is there a safe way to do it on Fedora 23?

Keep in mind I have the M5010 model NOT N5010!

See if i8kutils is helpful

sudo dnf info i8kutils
